Would you please explain to me why your headphones still have wires? There’s simply no logical explanation that I’ll accept.

Thanks to bluetooth technology, the magical sound devices you stick in your ears have officially been freed from the shackles of cords. Who has time for all that nonsense anyways? Whether you’re listening to music, working out, or simply taking a call, wireless earbuds are an absolute game changer.

By now, you’ve seen at least seen or heard of AirPods. They’re everywhere. I’m even convinced some people have them permanently fixed onto their ears. They’re fantastic for sure, but there’s other wireless earbuds in the category worth exploring.

Let’s take a look at the Top 10 Wireless Earbuds in 2019, according to yours truly.

1. APPLE AIRPODS 2ND GENERATION

Apple-AirPods-2nd-Generation-Wireless-HeadphonesAnytime Apple releases a product, fanboys swear it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever seen. As for the AirPods.. they actually live up to the hype. With impressive battery life and the newly released wireless charging case, AirPods are a worthy investment and great addition to your existing fleet of Apple products.

Apple Airpods 2nd Generation

There’s no disputing that the AirPods are the best-selling wireless headphone of all-time. With a wireless charging case now available, they still reign supreme.

If you have an iPhone, AirPods make a lot of sense. That being said, they’re not perfect and we recommend you do your research before pulling the trigger.

2. JABRA ELITE ACTIVE 65T

jabra-elite-active-65t-wireless-earbudsJabra makes wireless earbuds? Yes, yes they do. And honestly, they’re nothing short of amazing. The Elite 65t’s come in two versions – Elite 65t, and Elite Active 65t. Their mobile app is amazing, and provides a degree of separation over the app-less AirPods. Honestly, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better pair of truly wireless earbuds in 2019. There’s very little not to like here. Add these to your short list.

Jabra Elite Active 65t

The 65t’s from Jabra are outstanding. If you buy a pair, you’ll love them. The Jabra Sound+ mobile app is nothing short of amazing, and you may just tell your AirPod-loving friends they’ve got it all wrong.

The Jabra Elite Active 65t wireless earbuds represent the most formidable challenge to Apple’s AirPods for the crown in the wireless earbuds category. They even come with a feature called “HearThrough” which allows you to balance the sound coming from these earbuds to the sounds in your physical surroundings. Jabra for the win?

3. POWERBEATS PRO

powerbeats-pro-wireless-headphones Having owned a pair of PowerBeats 2, I think they’re overpriced. And yet, they’re pretty close to perfectiont. With the newest version of Powerbeats, they’ve dropped the cord connecting the two headphones. Since Beats by Dre is now owned by Apple, these might even be considered competition to Apple’s own AirPods.

Powerbeats Pro

You’ve seen LeBron James and other elite athletes wearing these in commercials, so they have to be good right? Or, Apple has a seemingly unlimited advertising budget. Either way, these are legit.

$250* from Amazon

Building on a strong legacy and several releases of the highly successful PowerBeats lineup of workout headphones, the Powerbeats Pro wireless earbuds are certainly going to sell well. For $250 though, are they worth it? How about you buy a pair and let us know.

4. SAMSUNG GALAXY BUDS

samsung-galaxy-buds-wireless-earbudsSamsung finally decided it was time to get in on the wireless earbud craze with their lazily named Galaxy Buds. If you’re one of the millions that have an S10 as your primary mobile device, then the Galaxy Buds might just make a whole lot of sense. Reviews are actually pretty good, and while they’re still more than $100, they’re not as expensive as AirPods.

Samsung Galaxy Buds

If you’re an Android apologist and love your Galaxy phone, these might just be your best bet!

These headphones are actually getting pretty great reviews, and with a price tag of around $130, you’ll save a decent amount of money if you buy these instead of AirPods.

5. SENNHEISER MOMENTUM TRUE WIRELESS

sennheiser-momentum-true-wireless-earbudsSennheiser is synonymous with quality. Their headphones have been adored by audiophiles since the days of cavemen, so it was only a matter of time before they released a true wireless earbud. If you’re a long-time fan of Sennheiser, the Momentum may just be what you’ve been waiting for. Are they as good as AirPods? Maybe not. Are they pretty much the most expensive ones in the category? Yes. They’re good for sure, but not sure we’d drop $300 on them!

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless

Sennheiser is banking on the fact that you might pay a little bit more to buy from a brand you know and love. These are pricey, but might be worth it. Hard to say.

$299* from amazon

Would we buy these? Probably not. There’s too many others in this category that won’t set you back $300. Sennheiser will eventually figure that out, but that doesn’t mean we dislike the Momentum as a product.

6. RHA TRUECONNECT

RHA-trueconnect-wireless-earbudsRHA might have the most underrated wireless earbuds on this list. People that have them, generally speaking, are obsessed with them. RHA makes a handful of wireless audio accessories, but these are the closest things to AirPods that they make.

RHA TrueConnect

They’re pretty good! Some even argue they’re the best. But others have noted some occasional connection issues. We like how they look, but you might want to look elsewhere!

$169* from Amazon

There’s almost certainly going to be a few people yelling at me that the TrueConnect earbuds from RHA aren’t ranked high enough on this list. Those people are wrong, but they’ll never admit it. They might even be ranked too high.

7. JBL FREE X

jbl-free-x-wireless-earbudsJBL is synonymous with quality, so I had high expectations for the Free X wireless earbuds. I’m not going to lie to you, JBL failed to meet those expectations by a considerable amount, and left me feeling pretty emotionally devastated. Eventually, they’ll replace these with a better pair, but in the meantime.. at least they’re cheaper than the rest.

JBL Free X

You might look at the price and be intrigued enough to give these a go. Our recommendation is you look elsewhere. JBL should be ashamed of themselves.

99* from Amazon

For under $100, the Free X are probably the best bargain for a decent pair of wireless earbuds in 2019. You could do a lot worse.. but you could also spend a little bit more and do a LOT better. Do better next time JBL.

8. BANG & OLUFSEN E8

bang-and-olufsen-e8-wireless-earbudsBang & Olufsen’s Beoplay E8 truly wireless headphones are a decent entry into the category. There’s certainly better options at this price point, but they are still worth mentioning. Just not purchasing.

Bang & Olufsen E8

They look nice, but are they going to meet your expectations? Maybe, but probably not. Okay, definitely not.

$165* from Amazon

The E8 wireless earbuds from Bang & Olufsen E8 need to be improved before we’ll take them seriously. If they got smart and dropped their price to under $100, we might have a little more interest in exploring these further. Until then, why exactly would you buy these?

9. BOSE SOUNDSPORT FREE

BOSE-soundsport-free-wireless-earbudsBOSE finally made a pair of wireless earbuds! Oh.. nevermind. They’re too bulky to be taken seriously. That being said, they do feature a fancy app and a nice case. But if you’re expecting the same BOSE quality that comes with the name (and their industry-leading noise cancelling headphones) these aren’t going to work for you.

BOSE SoundSport Free

BOSE, why did you even tease us with these? For the same price, you can get AirPods or Jabra 65t’s. They’re overpriced and underwhelming. Stick to noise-cancelling headphones for now.

$199* from Amazon

Do yourself a favor and don’t ever buy a pair of SoundSport Free wireless earbuds from BOSE. You won’t like them, and you’ll be wishing you spent your money elsewhere.

10. SONYWF-SP700N TRUE WIRELESS

sony-wf-SP700n-wireless-earbudsSony, what happened to you? There was a time where Sony ruled the audio/personal music world.. although we may have to go back to the time of the Walkman if we’re being honest. These “True Wireless” SP700N’s are kind of ugly, right? They also aren’t reviewed super well.

Sony WF-SP700N

They’re made by Sony, they can’t be that bad right? Wrong. These are straight trash. Not only do they look hideous, but they lack when it comes to sound quality. They’re also shaped like that Chicago bean thing. Do better, Sony.

$178* from Amazon

Can you do worse? Yes, absolutely. But who in their right mind would ever buy these over a pair of AirPods, or Jabra 65t Elite wireless headphones? A maniac, that’s who.

There you have it! Those are our favorite wireless earbuds in 2019.

In case you skipped everything above, you should probably choose between Apple’s latest version of the AirPods, and the Jabra Elite 65t wireless headphones. Once the rest of these companies get their act together, only then will we see some real competition.

Let’s be honest – you’re probably going to buy AirPods anyways, right?
