The Skydio R1 is the drone you've been looking for. Seriously though. Much has been written about the so-called "autonomous self-following" drones, but the technology powering the Skydio R1 should have you excited; this drone is dangerously close to what we've been asking for all along.
The Skydio R1 shoots in 4K (of course), lasts up to 16 minutes on a single battery, and maybe most importantly - doesn't run into stuff - like trees. Score one for collision-avoidance technology.
If you're looking for a professional drone and you aren't worried about spending a decent chunk of change, the Skydio R1 might be the best drone you can buy.

Why should you buy the Skydio R1?
By all accounts, seems that Skydio is targeting the action sports enthusiast/professional photographer target market, but that doesn't mean an amateur shouldn't look at the R1. The Skydio is progressing drone technology closer to what customers are looking for. Obviously, they're not going to sell as many R1's as DJI Mavics, but they're not expecting to. The R1 is expensive, and from our perspective the cost is justified.
What DON'T we like about it?
I mean.. the $2,500 price point is tough to stomach, but it does seem like the collision-avoidance tech on the R1 is best in class. So, you get what you pay for.
